At Field Motorsport we understand what the people that participate in Motorsport require as we regularly compete ourselves.
This gives us a massive insight into what our customers need; what we expect for ourselves, we also expect to be able to deliver for others.
A Brief History...
Tommy started off like many other past, present, and no doubt future champs in the seat of a Kart. He first sat behind the wheel of one in 1986, and by 1994 he'd won the SP plate sponsored by Williams, the GP (GrandPrix) plate, the open championship, the O plate and finished 2nd in the British championship.
At the end of '94 he left for pastures new and ended up behind the wheel of a Formula Ford single seater. First up was the winter series using the 1600 Zetec engine. Out of 16 rounds Tommy managed 16 poles, 15 wins and 15 fastest laps making him the Class B Formula Ford Zetec British champion.
Not long after he entered the yearly Formula Ford festival outdriving himself and finishing only 2nd to Mark Weber of current F1 fame.
After making his mark on motorsport Tommy began a 6 month extreme test program in Formula 3000 with extensive testing abroad giving him some podium finishes including a 2nd and a 3rd at the infamous SPA and Magnycours race circuits respectively.
Racing with Toms Toyota in 1997, Tommy managed a 7th place in the Formula 1 GP support race but unfortunately soon after, sponsorship dried up ushering him back to what some could call his grass routes, Formula Ford.
Tommy was enlisted to help develop the 1998 car for the works Swift team and after a lot of hard work the season was spent constantly fighting for podium positions. This didn't lead to nothing though as in 1999 halfway through the season, they were standing 2nd overall... right before the team went bankrupt leaving Tommy without a seat to race for.
In 2003 Tommy found himself entering the Saloon Silhouettes Championship in a 206, albeit only competing in half of the 14 races during the season. Despite this severe disadvantage, he still managed to finish 3rd overall and will hopefully be returning in his new car during 2007, and this time for a full season!
